BAS Quarterly Due Dates Calculator (Australia)

When is your Business Activity Statement due? This calculator gives you the exact ATO lodgement deadline for any Australian quarterly BAS, including the concessional dates for businesses that lodge through a registered tax or BAS agent. Covers FY2025-26 and FY2026-27.

Heads up: If a due date falls on a weekend or public holiday, the ATO shifts the deadline to the next business day. The calculator accounts for this. If you're on monthly BAS rather than quarterly, see the monthly section below.
BAS due date:

BAS quarterly due dates by financial year

QuarterPeriod coveredSelf-lodgeTax / BAS agent
Q1 (Jul–Sep)1 Jul — 30 Sep28 Oct25 Nov (approx)
Q2 (Oct–Dec)1 Oct — 31 Dec28 Feb28 Feb (no extension)
Q3 (Jan–Mar)1 Jan — 31 Mar28 Apr26 May (approx)
Q4 (Apr–Jun)1 Apr — 30 Jun28 Jul25 Aug (approx)

Note: Q2's tax agent concession is unchanged because of the December holiday period. The other quarter concessions reflect the ATO's standard tax-agent extensions and may shift if the date falls on a weekend or public holiday.

Monthly BAS due dates

If you lodge monthly (most commonly because your annual GST turnover is $20 million or more, or you've elected to do so), each monthly BAS is due by the 21st of the following month. Monthly lodgers don't get the tax-agent concession that applies to quarterly lodgers.

Example: BAS for May activity is due 21 June. If 21 June falls on a weekend, the deadline shifts to the next business day.

Annual BAS due dates

Small businesses voluntarily registered for GST (GST turnover under $75,000, or $150,000 for non-profits) can lodge BAS annually. The annual BAS is due with the income tax return:

What happens if you lodge BAS late

The ATO can apply a Failure to Lodge (FTL) penalty plus general interest charge (GIC) on any unpaid GST. The FTL penalty is calculated as:

If you have a clean lodgement record, the ATO may remit (waive) penalties automatically. If not, you can call 13 28 66 to request remission.

Frequently asked questions

When is the BAS due in Australia?
Quarterly BAS is generally due 28 days after the end of the quarter: Q1 (Jul-Sep) by 28 October, Q2 (Oct-Dec) by 28 February, Q3 (Jan-Mar) by 28 April, Q4 (Apr-Jun) by 28 July. If you lodge through a registered tax or BAS agent, you typically get an extension of around 4 weeks for Q1, Q3 and Q4.
What happens if I lodge BAS late?
The ATO can apply a Failure to Lodge (FTL) penalty plus interest on any unpaid GST. The FTL penalty is one penalty unit ($330 from 7 Nov 2024) per 28 days late, up to 5 units for small entities. The ATO may remit the penalty if you have a clean lodgement record.
Can I get an extension on my BAS?
Yes. Lodging through a registered tax agent or BAS agent automatically grants concessional dates for Q1, Q3 and Q4. For genuine hardship, you can call the ATO on 13 28 66 to request a deferral on individual lodgements.
Do I have to lodge BAS quarterly?
Most small businesses lodge quarterly. You must lodge monthly if your annual GST turnover is $20 million or more, or you choose to. You can lodge annually if your turnover is under $75,000 ($150,000 for non-profits) and you are voluntarily registered.
What's the difference between BAS and IAS?
BAS (Business Activity Statement) reports GST, PAYG withholding, PAYG instalments, FBT instalments and other tax obligations. IAS (Instalment Activity Statement) is used by entities that don't have GST obligations but still need to report PAYG. Both have similar due dates.
